Classic racer Clive ‘Rapid’ Ling has died after Belgium Open Trophy accident

Classic racer Clive Ling has died following an accident at the Circuit de Chimay in Belgium.

A talented rider and superb engineer, he had been involved in classic racing since the 1980s. He was 53. The Classic Racing Motorcycle Club (CRMC) regular and GP Originals rider was involved in an incident during one of the classic races at the Belgian street circuit. Clive, or ‘Rapid’ as his friends called him, was a renowned classic racer and a regular front-runner with the CRMC.

He was competing in the Open Trophy, a three-day event at Chimay in the country’s Wallonia region.

A statement from the CRMC reads: “It is with great sadness that we report that Clive Ling lost his life at Chimay.

“Clive was a truly valued member, a great racer and an incredible friend to many in the race paddock. He will be sadly missed. We offer heartfelt sympathies and condolences to Donna, and to the rest of Clive’s family and friends.”
