TT hero Conor Cummins at Stafford Show

Conor Cummins at the ‘office’

The lanky TT hero said: “I’m really looking forward to getting acquainted with the Nortons – and seeing if I can get myself tucked in on one. It shouldn’t be a problem. My first-ever experience on a classic was at the age of 16 when I ran a T20 Suzuki in for a mate of my dad’s. I fitted that okay!

Cummins is looking forward to the prospect of racing classic bikes on the Mountain course for the first time. “I rode Steve Wheatman’s XR69 at Jurby last year and boy was that a different experience to a modern race bike. But huge fun! I’ve never raced a classic before and can’t wait to let that and the two Manxes loose on the Mountain course,” he said.

The Stafford Show is also a first for Cummins: “I’ve heard it’s a huge motorcycling festival. I can’t wait to meet the fans.”

Cummins is also racing a brace of Milwaukee-backed Yamahas on the roads this year, and has a deal to race for a Yamaha team in World Endurance.
