Dad’s the word, as Prescott bike fest is postponed till June

by

PRESCOTT BIKE FESTIVAL, which was scheduled to take place on April 14-15, fell victim to the weather… but has already been rescheduled for the father’s Day weekend in June.

The event, due to take place at Prescott Hill Climb, Cheltenham was cancelled due to adverse ground conditions but was quickly rearranged by organisers for June 16/17.

In a statement issued a week before the event was due to take place a spokesman for the festival said: “With more rain forecast the organisers of Prescott Bike Festival have reluctantly agreed with the land owners that to go ahead would be foolish and unsafe in its present state. Currently the exhibitor and public parking areas are unusable.”

The event is the biggest annual fundraiser for the charity Blood Bikes. Event organiser Gordon Downie said “It has always been our goal to host ‘Two Amazing Days – One Winning Weekend’. We know that we could not deliver this promise if we were to proceed. We feel that, rather than relying on wishful thinking, that it’s better to reschedule to a more favourable and warmer time in the year.”

The popular, family-friendly event will now be held on June 16-17, the Father’s Day weekend. Tickets for the April event will be valid in June, and if ticket holders cannot make it, refunds are available. Visit Prescott Bike Festival website: www.prescottbikefestival.co.uk for more details.
