1938 Triumph Speed Twin sold for world record at Las Vegas auction

by

At the recent Bonhams’ Las Vegas Motorcycle Auction, a very special machine once owned by a film legend went under the hammer.

A 1938 Triumph 5T Speed Twin, which was formerly owned by Steve McQueen, sold for $175,500. When the hammer fell and the ‘Cooler King’s’ ride was sold (setting a new world auction record for this machine) the audience burst into applause.

That wasn’t all that made good at the auction. The beautiful 1993 Ducati Supermono (one of just 67 made) sold for $115,000, and a 1974 Munch Mammoth TTS made $112,000.
